Browse the Charleston City Market
Try to reserve at least an hour of your day trip to browse the famous Charleston City Market. Dating back the 1790s, this historic marketplace comprises four city blocks and houses the Confederate Museum as well as various restaurants. You’ll discover a wide variety of goods ranging from jewelry and handcrafted baskets to fresh-baked, traditional Southern biscuits.
Step Back into Time at Fort Sumter National Monument
Enjoy a short ferry ride out across the Charleston Harbor to spot dolphins and visit Fort Sumter, the historic landmark where the first shot of the American Civil War was fired. Tour the small museum to learn details of the fort’s important role in the Civil War and take a look around the architectural remains and see the cannons.
Visit the South Carolina Aquarium
